Delete Discussion create this site that is? I thought (after last night) I would tell all of you what my purpose was in creating this site, if you didn't already know. To be quite honest, the mission of what I WANTED to do has already fulfilled itself....but I can tell you that once the school year starts, there will be a lot more people joining.....
I was a member of a site called Tontine Nation. I loved this site last fall. It was a site where we could interact with the casting director, Tad Frank, and we could post discussions and boy, did I meet a LOT of people along the journey.....and because of those people I met, my outlook on things changed for the better. In some way, I found that even though the fact that show didn't get off the ground was devastating and cost me a lot of time, the friendships I have formed are priceless and will last a lifetime. If a website can do something as small as that, what else could it do? I significantly remember my birthday 12/20 and I had about fifty messages on my page from everyone wishing me a happy birthday...I remember Christmas and everyone wishing everyone well. I do believe I met friends via this site and it's changed my life in ways that were unimaginable. Rob Mariano said in his you tube video for the show that we would go on a quest for "unimaginable riches".....although we may never go on that quest, I FOUND unimaginable riches in the great friends I made.....and will continue to make, as I work with the entertainment industry more.....and sift my way through.....or at least try:)
When I thought of creating a Ning site, I knew HOW MANY were out there and I also knew (the way my mind works) that I could be a member of ALL OF THEM and ALWAYS have something to add.....so what should I do my site on??? Gymnastics? Yes. Literature? Yes. Teaching? Yes. Exercise? Yes. Reality T.V.? Yes......However, one thing I know about myself is that I LOVE all these things and I don't want to limit myself or anyone else to ONE topic.....sometimes I can switch the subject INSTANTLY.....and it may have nothing to do with the topic at hand....that's how my mind works....esp. in the morning...it's fast....VERY fast moving.....but always in different directions....I love to learn and I question everything...HOWEVER, I knew I wanted to keep the auditioner friends I had met on TN and some, in real life, and I wanted to figure out a way to do that and to provide online laughs, support, and perhaps even a smiley face every now and then on someone's page....sometimes, this can make ALL THE DIFFERENCE in someone's day. So, there you have and that's when CWG was created.....It's been around for a month and I am already amazed at what I have created (you may think it's small, but I don't). The fact that I am still able to connect to my friends from around the world, know about great events (like Chris's reality rumble) and use Webfetti (one of my favorite things!) is EXACTLY what I would have missed if I hadn't created this site. I said goodbye to the show, but I wouldn't to my friends....so I simply brought them with me here......and here it is safe and happy and all ideas are entertained and imagined and yes, Hines....ANYTHING is possible on my site.
I want to be as supportive and helpful to people on here as I can. I have learned what a "weak network creator" is from TN....I consider myself strong in this area of site building and I understand how important consistent communication and feedback to members is....and how far it can go.....be it monthly contests, discussions, or whatever...(please look for the monthly contests every month starting in September). Personally, I also love to blog, so you'll see a lot of my own journal entries on different topics here....as well as pictures from my weekend excursions etc....
So, in a nutshell or a few paragraphs....THAT'S why I did it, and this is turning into something great.....I am hoping to cap it off at 25 people this fall, but I don't want to limit ANYONE from the site, so I probably won't.....
There were people (Hilary) that I met on Tontine Nation that I didn't like because of one thing or another. But would I say they weren't allowed here...absolutely not....after all, opinion is that exercise of the human will which causes us to make a decision without information....and some, are simply getting too much information all day long, that they have simply lost their common sense.
In closing, I leave you with this quote that I would say desribes CWG:
